I love life!

Hi, I am Jo and this is my blog about my life. Here you will find entries on cooking, gardening, food safety and the interesting things happening in my search for an inexpensive and healthy way of living. My home is located in North Florida and I am relearning how to take care of myself at almost 50. This is the deep South so my garden and season may be a bit different than yours. I look forward to seeing what you have to say as time passes. Read on and have a beautiful day!

I should be packing for a business trip or editing a training project. However, blogging seemed like a much better idea.

We have been busy travelling for work, travelling for vacation and working around the house. There never seems to be enough time to do the things that are "wants" instead of "needs". Don't get me wrong, I am so very grateful for all of the opportunities afforded to me and yet they force me to make some hard choices.

Staying home, gardening, cooking, sewing, and more importantly spending time with family all are second to my chosen career. A career that lately is becoming more and more intense as the responsibilities increase. It is a paradox. My work is important for so many people, it is a challenge and I relish the opportunities coming my way. The longing to be at home is ever present in the back of my brain. Niggling at me when I start to get too excited about a new project. Part of it is guilt for not being able to "do it all", part of it is a fear of failing in the career and the last part is simply a longing for the safety and comfort of my home.

We have made our home comfortable for us. As an introvert, it is a refuge after an arduous day in almost constant contact with facility managers. It is a place of relaxation and on birthdays and holidays of joyful family gatherings. It is our home. Imbued with the essence of who we are and what we love.

In a nutshell home it is hard to leave.

Soon I will water my seedlings, make homemade pizza for dinner and finish packing for a week away. While gone I will long for my husband, my garden and the "belongingness" of my home. I simply need to remember throughout the week that home is waiting and the comforts of it will be here welcoming me back to where I belong.

Safe travels to all!
